Preparation for Licensure: ATI Peds Adaptive Quiz

While I was more comfortable with the content of this exam, I did not do as well as I had hoped. Also, I did not implement any previous testing lessons I learned from the earlier assessments. Again, I answered questions way too fast. I realize that I have a really hard time pacing myself with answering questions. I have always been a fast reader/test taker but the amount of time I spend on most questions is not conducive to answering these questions properly. I remember thinking that I was confident in my answers and that I did not have to sit there and think about the other options. I recognize now that if I had spent more time considering the other options, I would have made some better choices. When I was reviewing the quiz, I realized I was often between two answers and made the wrong rationale and chose the incorrect answer. I find this frustrating because I was so sure of myself, but upon review I could understand why my rationale was wrong. I really want to make this a turning point for me in regards to my test taking strategies. Before the next ATI assessment, I will review my previous portfolio posts and implement the lessons I have previously learned. I might even try to write little reminders on a scratch piece of paper to slow down and take my time. Hopefully, this will help to improve my score and time management.
