This piece of art reminds me of what it truly means to be a nurse. In this print, the nurse is holding the patient’s hand, demonstrating an element of therapeutic communication: touch. A supportive, empathetic touch can show a patient how much you care and can begin to build a strong healing relationship. Caring for a patient and supporting their needs in times of crisis is part of the nursing profession.
